Have you heard about e-perolehan?

ePerolehan was established in 1999 as part of the MSC initiatives, and developed by Commerce Dot Com, a company partly owned by the government (through special share allocation).

ePerolehan is an online procurement system that allows local entrepreneurs to register as suppliers for government offices. It also allows the government offices and agencies to procure products and services through a fast, web-based and electronic application.

In 2005, more than 100,000 purchase orders (PO) amounting to RM1.08 billion were issued via the ePerolehan system. To date, about 40,000 suppliers are actively transacting via the system.

Through e-procurement, Suppliers gain benefits as advertising of goods and services is much cheaper and faster, and yet reaches a much broader base of buyers. Besides, they will be able to adopt and grasp the eBusiness concept more rapidly, due to the usage of ePerolehan.

On the other hand, Government gains advantages over Better management of purchases and payments. Furtheremoere, through its usage, ePerolehan will indirectly promote a higher rate of IT literate workforce, both in the Government and private sectors.
